I Hate My Body
Have you ever felt insecure about your body like I do? Have you ever felt pressured by the media to look a certain way? My ted talk is about how the media pushes certain types of body image as an ideal. By looking at the way the media portrays the idea about a perfect body it is evident that these images influence people's view about their body. This is significant because many americans have eating disorder because of their negative body image.
Body image is how you see yourself when you look in the mirror or when you picture yourself in your mind. Society makes us feel that we have to be skinny in order to be beautiful. Media influence people's views of their body is through the internet and television. It's important to me because I used to get bullied about my body and I didn't like it when other people were bullied because of it. It made me think about how fat and ugly I am and it made me feel uncomfortable about my body. Media is making people feel fat because there are posting pictures of people whoses body are edited to make them look skinnier and that's not right. Other people start to hate their image and starve themself so they can get r the perfect body they wanted.
Mass media provides a significantly influential context for people to learn about ideals and values place on being attractive. Media is making other people feel fat and ugly by posting skinny and pretty pictures that influence people to think that there body should look a certain way. By photoshopping unrealistic ideas highlighting for them to look better and by making them skinner. By public it makes them not feel good about themselves.
Severe distress or concern about body weight or shape may also signal an eating disorder. Common eating disorders include Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge eating disorder. The media influence eating disorder by overeating or eating small portion. Parents can be over controlling by being overprotective and friends, school the environment can influence you by undereating or overeating. To be skinnier and to fit with other people sometimes feel like they don't fit in still.
Media is making other people feel fat because there are posting pictures of skinny people and that's not right. By photoshopping unrealistic ideas highlighting for them to look better and by making them skinnier .So what can we do about all of this? We can bring awareness, like I am doing with this ted talk, we can boycott brands that promote negative body images through stereotypes, we can spread the word on social media to not worry about your body, because you’re beautiful just the way God made you. So we can force the media to not post those anorexic pictures anymore..
